Flowers for a funeral or memorial service are designed for display at the funeral home, church, memorial, or celebration of life, while sympathy flowers for the home are delivered directly to the family. Starting with the destination is one of the simplest ways to choose the right arrangement.
For the service, options may include standing sprays, casket sprays, wreaths, and other larger arrangements intended for the ceremony or gathering. Some designs have a specific purpose, so the relationship to the deceased and the type of service can help guide the selection.
If you prefer to send sympathy flowers to the family’s home, choose an arrangement or available sympathy gift intended for residential delivery. This creates a separate option for friends and family members who want to acknowledge the loss outside the service itself.
When deciding between the two, begin with where you want the flowers delivered. From there, you can narrow the choice by arrangement type, color, and the details of the service or home delivery.
The right funeral flowers depend first on who is sending them and where they will be displayed. Immediate family typically selects flowers associated directly with the casket or urn, while relatives, friends, colleagues, and other attendees may choose standing sprays, sympathy baskets, or other tributes for the service.
Typically ordered by immediate family, casket flowers are designed for placement on the casket. Our casket sprays provide options for different floral and color preferences.
Designed to incorporate or surround an urn, these arrangements are also typically selected by immediate family for a cremation or memorial service.
These upright easel arrangements are displayed prominently at the service and may be sent by family or friends.
These substantial flower arrangements are designed for display at a funeral home, church, memorial, or celebration of life.
Additional floral arrangements and plants provide further options for honoring the occasion without choosing a casket or standing design.
Start with your relationship to the family and the type of funeral service, then browse the appropriate category to compare available designs. If you’re uncertain which option fits the service, contact us and we can help clarify the differences.
Casket sprays and cremation tributes serve different purposes and are generally selected by immediate family. A casket spray is designed for placement on the casket, while a cremation tribute is designed to incorporate or surround the urn during the service.
The type of service is the clearest place to begin. For a service with a casket, families can browse our casket designs and consider the appropriate size, floral style, and color direction. Options may include soft whites, brighter combinations, or colors such as pink, yellow, and purple, depending on the designs and flowers currently available.
For a cremation service, an urn tribute creates a floral setting specifically around the urn. These sympathy flower arrangements can be considered alongside other service flowers without treating one style as the required or traditional choice for every family.
Standing sprays are flower arrangements designed to be displayed upright on an easel or similar stand at a funeral, memorial, church service, or celebration of life. They create a visible floral tribute without being placed directly on the casket.
Our standing easel spray collection includes modern spray designs as well as wreath, heart, and cross forms. Depending on the arrangement and current availability, designs may feature roses, lilies, carnations, hydrangea, or other flowers in palettes ranging from soft whites to pink, yellow, lavender, and richer colors.
These tributes are commonly sent by family and friends for display at the service. A wreath or heart may suit a range of services, while a cross is a specifically religious form and should be chosen when it is appropriate for the family, faith, and service.
Sympathy baskets offer another option for flowers displayed at a funeral or church service. These substantial, one-sided arrangements are designed for placement on the floor or a pedestal, making them distinct from casket flowers and upright easel designs.
Our other tribute options can include floral arrangements and sympathy plants suited to the service setting. Depending on the design and current availability, selections may feature white roses, pink roses, yellow roses, white lilies, orchids, chrysanthemums, or other flowers in varied color palettes. We recommend choosing according to the arrangement itself rather than assigning a fixed meaning to a particular flower or color.
Sympathy flowers do not have to be sent to the funeral service. A floral arrangement or another available sympathy gift can be delivered directly to the grieving family at home, giving friends and relatives another option when deciding where to send their condolences.
Home flower delivery can be considered when you cannot attend the service, when the service has already taken place, or when you prefer to select a gift specifically for the family. Available options may include floral bouquets, plants, or other designs from our Gifts for the Home collection.
There is no need to treat sympathy delivery as limited to one specific point in the mourning process. The appropriate timing depends on the circumstances and the people receiving the gift.
When ordering, you can also include a sympathy card message with your arrangement. If finding the right words feels difficult, keep the message simple and personal to your relationship with the family or their loved one.
Ordering ahead gives us more time to coordinate the arrangement with the funeral or memorial service schedule. Some sympathy designs may also require additional notice, so check the selected product or contact us when the service date is close.
Provide the name of the deceased (as the recipient name); the funeral home, church, or service location name and address; and the date and time of the service (noted in the comments field) when ordering. Complete information helps us coordinate the delivery with the destination and scheduled service.
